This issue can be worked around by using a pristine GNU make from MacPorts instead of the OSX supplied modified version of GNU make. See http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/ticket/13223

I see that this issue is "fixed" on the MacPorts side. Is it safe to close it on our end? Or is there additional fixing we need to do?

Closing, since this is fixed by MacPorts.
Does anyone know of a workaround for this or should I wait until Boost 1.35.0?
